Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. The platform runs in the browser on a computer, a phone or a tablet. Open the site and start.

Does it work offline?

No. Your projects are saved on the server, and autosave needs a connection. If the connection drops, your work stays on screen but it is not saved until you are back online.

For a copy that does not depend on the connection, use Download project and keep the file yourself.

Which formats can I download?

Images: PNG, JPG and WebP. Vectors: SVG and PDF. For a laser or CNC machine: a DXF file.

Ordinary-resolution PNG is on the free plan. The print densities and the vector downloads come with the paid plans, and Download DXF comes with Studio.

Who owns what I design?

You do. The projects you create and the fonts you upload remain yours, and we claim no ownership of them, as the Terms of Service say.

Can I use my designs commercially?

The design itself is yours. Watch what you put inside it, though: a font you uploaded or a picture you placed is still governed by its own licence.

Before any commercial use, make sure you are licensed for every font and every picture you used.

Can I upload my own font?

Yes. In the Font Builder use Upload font and choose a full .ttf or .otf file. Only upload fonts you are licensed to use.

After reading the file the app shows What we found: letters, shapes, joined pairs and tashkeel marks, and asks for the Joining style, either Flat (Naskh) or Cascading (Ruqʿah / Nastaliq).

Can I edit the library fonts?

A font carrying the System badge is view-only and cannot be changed.

You can still take what you like from it: Copy to my font moves a letter into your own font, where you can edit it freely.

Where are my projects saved?

In your account on the server. Saving is automatic two seconds after your last edit, and the top bar shows Unsaved changes and then Saved.

You can also save right away with the Save button or with ⌘/Ctrl + S.

How do I move projects to another account or device?

Projects travel as files. Download them with Download project or Export all, then bring them in on the other account with Open project for a single file or Import all for a batch.

What if a project uses a font I don't have?

The project still opens, and the report lists them under Fonts you don't have, by name. Add the missing font and the letters come out right.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The panels arrive as sheets you pull up from the bottom, pinch zooms, one finger on empty canvas pans, and a long press opens the selection menu.

Is there a trial for the paid plans?

There is no separate trial. The free plan gives you the whole editor to try at your own pace, and a first paid subscription carries a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Can I change the language and the look?

Yes. Language switches between Arabic and English, and Theme between light and dark. Both choices are remembered on the device you are using.

Will there be hand-drawn calligrapher fonts?

Yes, and the work is under way: hand-drawn Arabic fonts by professional calligraphers, not computer fonts. We will announce them in the help area once they are ready.
